Quality Boots Excellent craftsmanship, thick Leather. American made!! Breaking in good boots always sucks but once they’re broke they are like steel toe slippers. I’m tough on boots and am confident these boots will serve me a long time. Did I mention American made? Can’t have a good economy if you don’t shop in it ;) Yes, I recommend this product. |

Well crafted. After owning these boots for a number of weeks, I can say that they are the best pair of Chippewa's I have owned thus far. From their sturdy leather construction to the soft vibrant sole, these boots have served extremely well. These boots are well crafted in America and surely show it. The all metal American flag lace ornament shows these boots are made here at home.
Initially, breaking these boots in was a challenge; the will-be soft leather will come to you tough and only lightly oiled, asking you to wear them in and properly maintain them. For the first few days, only a few irritations appeared in my feet - and they were minor at best (a small heal blister that formed into a calice). However, after only a week of normal wear these boots felt like slippers. I could very well lace up and be comforted and supported throughout a day of mixed use.
The overall construction of these boots is phenomenal. As my second pair of Chippewa boots, the differences between the two are astounding. Triple stitching, gusseted tongue, and a serious Vibram sole (and laces that don't blowout in 3 minutes immediately suggest quality. With a good mink oil, these boots will soften quickly and along with the oil, waterproof. As someone who works in the snow, I could not be more pleased with the results I found. With a triple coat of mink oil heated into the leather, a dry, comfortable insole always greeted me after a long day.
To the prospecting buyer, again, I highly recommend purchasing a good, natural mink oil to hydrate the boot and prevent them from drying out. These boots are constructed with excellent true leather and are prone to drying/cracking/splitting. After only a few days without oil, I noticed these signs, and hastily bought a tub from our local shoe store. But not everything is perfect... And while minor, there are flaws in these boots. One I immediately noticed was the difference in size. Yes, these boots certainly run a little large; in my case, a whole size. My foot size according to a foot measure is a 12, and after reading a few reviews, I ordered a size below - an 11 1/2. To my dismay, these were far too large and had to be sent back and exchanged for an 11. Furthermore, these boots are narrow, and those who would even SLIGHTLY consider their feet wide would benefit from an EE. I personally chose a D and am happy with the decision.
Furthermore, the steel toe box is narrow and will not accept five toes. The toe box is also easy to dent - beware [although I am not concerned about dropping heavy items or being run over - the steel toe feels sturdy from above]. Finally, the stitching around the sole in slightly concerning. In some areas of the boot the excess leather has been disturbed and is begging to peel up. I am considering epoxying it down to prevent the leather from leaving to sole.Over all, I am confident that with the right care and absence of abuse, these boots will tread many miles. Good luck! Yes, I recommend this product. |

Never again I bought a pair of these boots about 7 months ago and after not even two full weeks of wearing them the outsole came unsewn around the heel. Those boots were quickly returned and replaced but now the second pair about 6 months after are now also coming undone except this time around the toe on both boots. All said and done I do not and will recommend these boots to anybody. I was happy to pay the $200 or so for them due to being made in the U.S.A but am now sorry I did. No, I do not recommend this product. |

Hope 3rd time is the charm I had to return two pairs because the sole was separating at the toe. The third pair is still in the box scared to try them. I've own many pairs of Chippewas and have beat the tar out them. Needed steel toe for work, so far I'm a little worried how these will hold. No, I do not recommend this product. |

Overview At first they were stiff; just like any new leather boots. I wore wool socks for the break in "I know hot but reduces reduces friction", and after 6 days were able to switch to regular cotton socks. I am very happy with them since. Six days is awesome for a break in period. Yes, I recommend this product. |

TOUGHEST BOOTS Used these boots for a year in the oil fields. 12 months later these are still water proof. Leather is still soft and and not cracked. Yes, I recommend this product. |

CHIPPEWA CHOCOLATE APACHE UTILITY BOOT This is the second pair of these boots that I have purchased and they are PERFECT three season (Summer, Spring and Fall) boots...These boots are NOT insulated, which makes them perfect for the warm weather and they are lightweight compared to all of the other steel toe boots I have owned. These boots out of the box, take very little time to break in. I wore the first pair for three years before thinking about replacing them. The soles stood up to the daily punishment of mud and oil in some of the nastiest manholes in NYC.The chocolate brown leather is GOREGOUS and will stay that way with proper care. At first, I was only wearing these boots out to dinner and was afraid to mess them up at work. The American Flag on the boot is definitely AWESOME and really ties the boot together! These boots are MADE in the USA and the quality and craftsmanship really shines through in every stitch... You can rest assured that you'll get what you pay for with these Chippewa Boots! Yes, I recommend this product. |

Dependable as any work boot you will find. I have worn these boots for many years. They are an affordable boot for the price point and place of manufacturing. I have worn these in mines and oilfield work. While not waterproof they still do a great job. I wear mine so much that I wear the soles right off of them. I buy a new pair every time they wear out. Have recommended these to many of my co-workers and bunches of guys wear them now. I hope they make these American made boots for years to come at this price. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Solid boots These boots fit really well, I wear 13 in sneakers and got a 12 in these and they fit perfect. The first pair I got the sole started to detach from the boot after 6 months of use but Chippewa was good about replacing them for just the cost to ship the old ones back. Only wearing the second pair for a week so time will tell. Decent for cold weather if you wear good socks with them. Yes, I recommend this product. |
