Army & deployed In my job, we sometimes wear rugged civilian clothing. I picked these Chippewas for a few reasons: 1. They're outstanding in terms of comfort and durability; 2. They're not gouging in terms of price/ quality; and 3. I'm from SW Missouri, and wanted to support a company which I know employs several of my friend's extended family members. I have taken these boots all over the hinterlands and ghettos of Europe. I've worn them on the farm. They're fit for work! The ankle support is fantastic, the vibram sole is sturdy yet forgiving. I will be purchasing another pair. Yes, I recommend this product.

Long lasting I bought this pair 7yrs ago and wore them spring through fall. The soles wore around 5yrs, but I kept wearing them until 7. On my 6th year I got a bike and the soles got ruined. Replaced them at my cobbler and expect many more years to come.Wouldn't recommend as a motorbike boot as the vibram sole "Gumlite" wears pretty quick. Regardless I'll still wear them on my bike. Can't comment on sizing as it's been too long. My boots are broken in. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Love em I bought these boots when they were on sale. Not only are they great for outdoor activities, but they can be worn with a nice pair of jeans or chinos when going out to the bar. No other boot company can compare with Chippewa when it comes to combining both aesthetic appeal and durability. Overall an excellent product for the price. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Poor quality sole I have been wearing the boots for two weeks and the soles already show considerable wear, especially the heal. I have other Chippewa boots that are a lot more durable that I purchased from LL Bean. The Apache Classic boots is sub par for a Chippewa boot. How do I get a refund to get a better pair. I wish I would have read the reviews before I bought these but the quality of the LL Bean Chippewa I thought I would get the same quality from the Chippewa. Granted the boot I bought at LL Beans is a slightly different boot. No, I do not recommend this product. |

Made in USA I have had these for about three weeks. So far very good. The boots are light weight and comfortable. I bought these for work. I teach science and the boots are great in both the lab room and classroom. I am not sure about the negative reviews about bad shoe strings and too soft of soles. Mine are just fine. I also have a pair of chippewa boots that I bought in 2000. I still were them hard and they are unbelievable tough. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Best F'n Boots This is my third or fourth pair of Chippewa's. They come with a badass little American flag on the toe of the laces. Like all good leather boots, they need to be broken in. No one likes to break in boots. But once these are broken in 2(ish) weeks with daily wear they get real comfortable. They look good, but the only downfall is that every pair I've had, the laces always tear apart and I have to buy new laces, and can never find a good pair of laces. All in all they're priced well and will last a year or more. |

Great boot I bought a pair of these boots three years ago, just bought another pair today. Most comfortable and lightweight boot I have ever owned, every pair of boots I have owned had a two week break in period, not these boot, right out of the box they were as comfortable as they still are today. Needed another pair cause I wore them out. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Great at first, but soft sole made them disposabl I bought these boots as as Goodyear Welted budget alternative to Red Wings. They were great at first, quality construction, supple leather. Unfortunately, after a few months, the sole started wearing down very quickly. Now, at 1.5 years since date of purchase, the sole is VERY worn down. Overall, for the price you would pay to get these resoled, you'd be better off looking for a pair of used red wings or chipps with a different sole. Overall, pretty bummed. No, I do not recommend this product. |

Great boots Just received these and they are wonderful. I bought a half-size smaller than my shoe size and it was perfect. They fit and feel perfect, and their high quality is obvious. It's also gratifying that they are American-made. These are my second pair of Chippewas, and I am a happy customer. Yes, I recommend this product. |

2 Weeks - So Far, So Good. I bought these boots two weeks ago because I got boot fever and I wanted a quality, American, hand made pair of boots. Mostly wanted these because they looked great for everyday wear.Out of the box, the stitching was perfect. Nothing frayed. The color looks a tad bit lighter than the picture but it looks good. The fit was very comfortable.I wore it around the last two weeks and they seem to breaking in very well. I've received a ton of compliments on the color and style.I did make the mistake of wearing them outside in the rain without any weather protection and it did cause some discoloration. I did some research and decided to go with Obenhauf's Heavy Duty LP. This darkened them and it is no longer "chocolate" but it still looks good.Summary: Looks good and feels good. Be careful about water until you put some protection on them. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Comfortable but Poor Quality I've had these boots for just under two years now. Right out of the box, the color depicted here is not what you get. They're an unconditioned, light tan. It wasn't until I treated them with Hubbard's that the true color really came out. Everything you may have read about the soft soles is absolutely true. Within six months the soles had already begun to wear down. Now, approximately 3/4 of the heal is worn and the bottoms are nearly smooth. The stitching is also substantially subpar. In numerous locations the stitching has already started to become unraveled. The soft toe is an understatement. The left shoe's toe is already worn out and appears to be degraded to such a point that I'm probably going to have to replace these boots by the end of the year. There are numerous other problems with the boots ranging from leather that is not suited for everyday wear to the insoles and other internal components of the shoe already being degraded beyond expectations. In short, these boots are disappointing and do not hold up to the quality that we have come to expected from Chippewa. |

Best work boot I have ever worn! I am an auto technician by trade and work on concrete 12+ hours a day. I have searched for work boots that are still hand crafted without lining and to the date these are the only thing left out there to meet my requirements. I have worn them for a 1 1/2 years and the leather is still intact. The soft soles and firm support of the arch are exactly whats needed to cushion the shock of concrete that takes a toll on my back. Please don't change one thing about this boot. Thanks for keeping your company in America where Our jobs need to be and for taking pride in what you do. Yes, I recommend this product. |

great upper bad sole I bought this boot a year ago and as a machinist i expose my boots to lots of oil and water and it has withstood everything. My only complaint is that my soles are separating on the front of my boot and it now flaps when i walk. No, I do not recommend this product. |

only good for 11 months I have purchased 2 pair of these boots for my son and both times the soles have separated from the boot after 11 months. This is extremely disappointing after I read other issues. I would expect that Chippewa listen to their customers and improve the soles of these rather expensive work boots. No, I do not recommend this product. |

Nice boots but sole is slippery I bought a pair of these boots a couple of years ago. I don't wear them every day but they get some use. They're nice boots but my only complaint is the sole tread is not aggressive enough. My balance is pretty good but I've nearly fallen many times in these boots due to slipping on wet or snowy surfaces. Walking on a wet tile floor at my work can be like ice skating. Don't even try to walk on a hill with wet grass or snow. You'll be skiing down that thing... I'm going to be spending $60+ to re-sole these boots and put a more aggressive tread on them. No, I do not recommend this product. |

Best Steel Toe work boots I have ever owned Bought a pair roughly one year ago. Wear them daily to work Monday through Friday, working 10-12 hours/day in brake press machine shop with concrete flooring. I am in quality control and I am on my feet ALL day. Walking the line to perform in-process inspections for my shift. When I take them off when I arrive home after my shift, my feet feel the same as when I put them on in the morning. Excellant boots. Just finished conditioning my boots tonight. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Not worth it for me...... Nice boots, but soles are way to soft. They wear quickly & compress also.....take a look at the attached pics. Sole of right boot is compress so badly on the outside that my foot actually wants to roll over when I walk. Dumping these.....going to try a pair of the Black Odessa's with a different sole. No, I do not recommend this product. |

boots well made boot with too soft of a spongy sole heel combo . wears out very fast should have a vibram cord sole to make a top quality boot .had to bring these to the local shoe maker and he did it like it should have been done in the first place. I would like to buy another pair in black but I wont unless the soles are different. No, I do not recommend this product. |

Very comfortable I purchased these boot about 3 months ago and they have held up great. Like all footware they require a break in period ranging from 2 weeks to a month. Overall I love my Chippewas. These boots I ware almost every day doing various outdoor activities and various terrains. I highly recommend all Chippewa boots, and major plus is that there made in America. I take pride in my country and heritage and the American flags on the front of the boot is a strong reflection of it. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Love these boots, they can handle anything. I bought these boots in 2011 and still think they're the most comfortable I've ever worn. I've worn these boots in Afghanistan, the U.S., and through most of Europe. I did resole after about a year with a tougher Vibram outsole more suited to rugged terrain. I also had the heel shaved down for a lower profile. Last month I climbed Ben Nevis in Scotland with them (through snow and ice above the 700 meter line), and yesterday I returned from a weekend in Amsterdam where they kept me comfortable through hours of walking the pavement and spending most of the night on my feet as well. They are hands down the most versatile and comfortable footwear I've ever owned - perfectly suited to a day on the trail and a night in the pub. Other than a quick cleaning, they only need about an hour's worth of maintenance every six months or so - saddle soap, mink oil, and new insoles. I've no doubt these will last me for years to come. Yes, I recommend this product. |

comfortable, well made boots i bought my first pair of chippewas # 20065 about a year ago, and they fit perfectly right out of the box. i am 58 yrs. old, and i wear nothing but american made shoes/boots......if you are 25 years old or younger, and were raised wearing foreign-made shoes, than you might be unfamiliar with shoes built on american-made lasts....so many comments on these websites are directed at incorrect sizing---but i believe this is mostly attributable to the differences between american and foreign-built shoes/boots. don't blame the manufacturers!! Yes, I recommend this product. |

Great boot once broken in! Really like the quality of the boot and the soft sole that provides good grip. The toe area was a little tight and the upper section around the ankle was pretty stiff, but with a good coating of Pecard Boot Oil and wearing them for a solid day they loosen up nicely. Yes, I recommend this product. |

great boot, soft sole I am a teacher, and I have had my pair for a solid year now, and have been very pleased with them. After the break in, these boots were the most comfortable I have ever owned. However, the sole started to wear extremely fast, and now are not good for much besides wearing them in the classroom -- anywhere else I do not get enough grip to make them worthwhile. Yes, I recommend this product. |

Soles too soft Very disappointed with these boots I own several other pairs of Chippewa boots but I wanted a low boot with a flat sole. Sole of boots wore extremely quickly as I've owned theses boots under a year and don't wear them everyday. Yes, I recommend this product. |
